MKA USA Response to the Oklahoma Tragedy

The leaders and membership of Majlis-Khuddamul Ahmadiyya USA, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Organization, maintain solidarity with the people of Oklahoma and Texas. We too acknowledge the pain of families in Moore and Newcastle Oklahoma as well as all the areas affected. Our thoughts and prayers are with them and we are supportive of them in their long journey to recovery. As believing youth, we recognize that there are many questions that come up when loss of life, property and peace of mind occur. In spite of these challenges as brothers, friends and neighbors, we support the devastated communities that are affected. We pray for their recovery and their overcoming of all challenges. We all belong to God, and should He call us back may He give strength to the loved ones we leave behind. As a youth auxiliary pledging service to our nation and countrymen, we are merging with Humanity First in providing volunteers to affected families.

Fact of the Day

The Holy Qur'an was not authored by Muhammad. It was authored by God, revealed to Muhammad, and written into physical form by his companions.

With the grace of Allah, our beloved Hazur (aba) took the time to visit us here in the US. All of us benefitted spiritually. Even with his tight schedule he managed to preside over ameen cermonies, aamila meetings, dinners, mulaqaats, jalsa, and a very historical capitol hill event. His blessed presence has changed all of our lives. He has guided us to further improve ourselves individually and as a community.

This guidance will allow us to overcome all of the obstacles that in our way currently and for the future. May Allah allow for MKA USA to be the America's Leading Muslim Youth organization. May Allah shower his blessings on the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community and his holiness. Ameen.

Day 2 - 06/26/12

As part of his tour of the U.S., Hazur met with a selection of 120 university students, graduate students and PhD candidates yesterday at Baitur Rahman. The students, who had gathered from all corners of the country, were all eager to see Khalifatul Massih, many for the first time.

Hazur listened attentively to each of the PhD candidates present on their fields of research and on the problems they hope to address. Their research covered fields as varied as neural stem-cell behavior, laser technology and biochemistry. Despite technically complex descriptions of these studies, Hazur asked thoughtful questions of each of the presenters, and even joked with a couple of them.

In the last few minutes of the meeting, Hazur answered a few questions from the students and took some photographs with the group. As Hazur's already tight schedule grows busier every day, small events like these become rarer and rarer opportunities to see him in person.

Day 1 - 06/25/12

“Alright, here’s how I would start this blog. Ready? Sitting in a Chevy Tahoe on the corner of...what does that say? Briggs-Chaney and Good Hope Road, Wajahat Ali watches for any sign of suspicious activity,” dictates Wajahat Ali from the driver’s seat of a Chevy Tahoe on the corner of Briggs-Chaney and Good Hope Road. “How’s that?”

“There’s no way I’m starting the blog like that. No way.” I insist.

....
Oops.

Wajahat and his partner, Zahir, are two of the 250 total registered Khuddam volunteering at Baitur Rahman as part of the Khilafat team. That number is growing every day as Khuddam from all over the country are flocking to Hazur’s location to serve their Jama’at and live up to the MKA pledge to sacrifice their life, wealth, time and honor  for the sake of their faith, country and nation.

The volunteer effort is so massive that an entire team of volunteers is dedicated exclusively to the task of providing food and water to those Khuddam on duty. The hospitality team serves as many as 30 volunteers every half-hour on a constantly shifting rotation, 24 hours a day.

But more staggering than the sheer number of volunteers is the unwavering dedication to the cause of the Jama’at, and the ubiquitous excitement towards Hazur’s presence. Volunteering affords these Khuddam the rare chance to see Hazur in action, often moving from one event to another. For many, this is their first opportunity to see our Khalifa in person. One Khadim, who slept for only 11 hours in the last three days, described how energizing the experience of being able to pray behind Hazur was. “Its a joyous feeling that takes away everything. All of the tiredness just goes away when you see Hazur”. Another talked about how he’d  gone into work to request time off to volunteer here, knowing that if he were denied it he would quit his job without hesitation for the opportunity to serve.

The shared sense of duty and purpose among the volunteers fosters a special kind of brotherhood, a camaraderie that permeates the space between them. They joke and laugh with one another at their posts and over the radios, building bonds with members of their community from all over the country. “we’ve been meeting a lot of new people,” said one of the volunteers. “I honestly feel closer to the Jama’at than ever before.”
