Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya, USA

With the economy being as bad as it is and with unemployment rising we have number of Ahmadi's who for one reason or another cannot afford to get individual health care plans for themselves or for their family members.

Can we look into getting Association Health Care plan for our Ahmadiyya USA community? This can be an option for our Ahmadi brothers and sisters while they are looking for health coverage.

With any group health care plan it helps reduce premiums for all involved when you are part of a group.

Thoughts??

In the meantime, we do have members of our Jamaat who work with Medicaid. I assume people can seek that help if jobless.
I know one sister who works with Medicaid, if you need advice.

That works for those that don't have jobs or make less then a certain amount of income.

But how about for those Ahmadi brothers and sisters that have their own businesses or are making a little above the cut off for Medicaid?

Ideally it would be nice to establish a community based Health care plan option that is more competitive then what these members are able to obtain on their own. That is more of what I was directing this topic towards.

If those Ahmadi's that work in Medicaid and others want to add their thoughts to this discussion I think it will be very valuable for all.

This sounds like a good idea...I'm sure there are lots of variables that play into this..but definitely a good idea. I think you should definitely contact the elected shuraa delegate, so that it can be mentioned in the upcoming Shuraa. With so many Ahmadi professinoals in the healthcare industry, I think this idea is viable.
